This course provides a comprehensive introduction to spatial analytics and geospatial data processing using Google Earth Engine (GEE) – a powerful cloud-based platform for large-scale environmental monitoring and earth observation. Participants will learn how to leverage satellite imagery and geospatial datasets to perform land cover classification, environmental monitoring, and change detection at both local and global scales.

The course will cover:

  • Fundamental concepts of spatial analytics and remote sensing
  • Accessing and visualizing geospatial datasets through GEE
  • Writing and executing GEE scripts for spatial analysis
  • Techniques for land cover mapping, surface water analysis, and vegetation monitoring, among others.
  • Applying spatial models to track environmental change over time
  • Integrating machine learning for geospatial classification

Through hands-on exercises and real-world case studies, participants will gain the skills needed to apply GEE to diverse fields such as conservation, agriculture, urban planning, and climate studies. This course is designed for scientists, GIS professionals, researchers, and policymakers seeking to enhance their spatial analysis capabilities and leverage satellite data for informed decision-making.

No prior experience with GEE is required, but basic knowledge of GIS and programming will be beneficial.
